Description
This lovely piece of art speaks for itself.  It is one of Wyland's classic compositions.  We love it, but no longer have space to do it justice.  We hope that someone who appreciates his work as much as we do will see this listing and take this beautiful picture into their home or office. This is a Wyland Limited Edition artwork.  It is 5/295.    We purchased this in the Wyland Galleries, 855 West Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA on October 11, 2002.  We have all the paperwork - receipt and Certificate of Authenticity.   It will be shipped in the original box that we received it in.  It is double framed with a shadowbox effect in beautiful, Hawai'ian Koa wood and a dark blue mat in between frames and Plexiglas. The paperwork includes care instructions for both the frame and the Plexiglas.  Including the frame, it is 42 inches high and 36 inches wide.  THIS IS A NON-SMOKING HOUSE and always has been, so there will be no problems in that regard.  The painting has hung in our living room away from sunlight. SELLER'S NOTE: This piece has been double signed by Wyland as you can see in the photograph.  The original painting signature and date (1983) appear as well as the original signature on the limited edition print. Here is a quote by Wyland on this piece of art:                   "In this painting (Children of the Sea,) I tried to capture the warm intimacy that                   exists between Pacific bottlenose dolphins, as well as the                   fantastic ocean environment in which they live. This is one of                   my early works, and I’d have to say it’s probably my favorite.                   I sold it in 1983 at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna, then                   bought it back in 1990 for my own collection. Children of the                   Sea to me is important in its meaning, and I feel it captures                   forever the spirit of our ocean friends. Once I bought the                   painting back, I dropped everything I was doing and set aside                   time to sculpt it in bronze. I had always seen the painting                   three-dimensional, and when I actually began to translate it                   into sculpture, the impact was tremendous! When people ask me                   how long it took to finish the sculpture, I say it took me                   seven years and five weeks — seven years to think about it and                   five weeks to physically create the piece. The result was very                   satisfying, though, and this painting inspired me to begin                   sculpting many of my earlier works."      *Cibachrome images are exposed directly from digital files, slides or       transparencies, eliminating the need for time-consuming, costly and       resolution-robbing inter-negatives. Cibachrome gives you maximum,       first-generation sharpness from your original slide or transparency.       Cibachrome materials have tough durable bases. The artist can paint       highlights directly onto it to give it a more textured appearance. Each       piece is made unique by hand and therefore, becomes individual. Thank you for visiting our site.  We do our best to list items with a full and accurate description.  If you have questions, please be sure to contact us before you bid so there are not disappointments afterward.  The shipping on this item is INCLUDED in the price and it will be INSURED for the full purchase price.
