Description
Trains, Boats, Planes and more ... if it's transportation it's here. Mint stamps from around the world honoring man's conquest of land, sea, and sky. Chugging locomotives belching steam ... tall-masted sailing ships racing before the wind ... fragile biplanes skimming the tree-tops. Just seeing them stirs the imagination and makes the heart leap, for they are symbol and substance of man's coninuing quest to dominate the earth and the heavens. This stirring collection has been captured ... an important collection of mint stamps from around world that brings together history's most interesting forms of transportation. Each stamp in the collection illustrates a milestone in man's relentless desire to tame distances ... to move faster and faster ... and, ultimately, to escape the grasp of the earth itself. The stamps, including new postal issues and back issues no longer availabel from postal authorities, are displayed in uncancelled, mint-perfect condition. In addition, an original work of art has been created exclusively to complent each stamp. These full-color works have been rendered with painstaking attention to detail by Basil Smith, whose distinctive, picturesque style has made him one of Britain's foremost artist.
