Description
STAMPS OF FINLAND 1875 SENATE PRINTING - 1 MARKKA LILAC - COAT OF ARMS TYPE M/75#19S LILAC PERFORATED 11X11FACIT 2008 SPECIALIZED CATALOGUE #19SC1 BLOCK OF 4CATALOGUE VALUE: 18.000SEK = $3,000USD FOR MOST COMMON BLOCK OF FOUR WITH GUMMESSON 1989 CERTIFICATE Comments: A rare used block of 4 from the Senate Printing, second emission, of the Coat of Arms Issue. Block is perforated 11x11. Senate printing blocks of 4 in this issue are rare and this has a 1989 Gummesson certificate. The Scott catalogue is not especially useful here as it does not distinguish between the Senate and Stamp Office (Charta Sigillata) printings with their various perforation possibilities. Ex Hvidonov previously sold in 1995 Postiljonen auction in Sweden. Gummesson notes that this is a particularly well preserved color and notes that the stamps are positions 1, 2, 6 and 7 on the plate. He further notes the lilac dot plate variety: look to the upper left of the lower left numeral "1" in stamp #2 (the upper right stamp) this is just to the right of the "3" in the upper cancel. Condition: The block in the lilac shade is on a partial piece and accompanied by a Gummesson Cert. which finds it genuine with no defects or repairs.Catalogue: Facit Special 2008 Catalogue for #19S Values a single Block of 4 @ 18,000 SEK = $3000USD in the most usual shade and not counting the plate variety.
